Statuette Osiris Late Period 26 Dynasty
Bronnze Osiris Statuette with double suspension loop at the nape of is neck. The crook is in his right hand and the flail is in his left, which is less commobn than the opposite. The right crown is broken at the tip and there is a horizontal casting flaw across the knees. This could be caused by adding metal to the mould twice with some time elapsing in between, otherwise intact . Such figurines are most commonly intended to stand and were mounted by a small vertical tang beneath the feet. This example was instead intended to hang by the suspension loop behind the neck- this type is very unusual. Crown broken and casting flaw, Late Period 26 Dynasty, H. 10 cm.
