Ushebtis New Kingdom (2)

Two New Kingdom Ushebtis from the Same Tomb. Two front-molded clay ushebtis in fired Nile silt fabric from the same mold/tomb. New Kingdom, 19th Dynasty. Reputedly from Thebes. Both broken and worn. 1. A worker ushebti made from fired pottery with traces of polychrome paint on body. A tall elongated woman is depicted with a long lappet wig and arms shown crossed upon the breast with clenched fists. The backside is rough and undecorated. Clear yellow over red detail is visible between the lappets of the wig below the neck and the first hieroglyph (an eye?) may be painted in yellow over a red vertical register and it would seem that the rest of the body of the figure may have been black. H 13,5 cm Feet broken away and missing and slip mostly gone. (M1090) 2. A worker ushebti made from fired pottery with traces of red slip or paint on body. The detail is all on the front side as the piece was made in an open-faced mould. A tall elongated woman is depicted with a long lappet wig and arms s
