Bronze Mirror Middle Kingdom

Bronze Mirror (M201). Middle Kingdom. D 13,5 cm. Tang partially broken away and heavy corrosion. Harmer Rooke Auction, 1992. A flat ovoid mirror with tang at bottom. A heavy patina over a layer of soot indicating that at some time it was in a fire. Now mounted with a reproduction wood handle on a backboard. The thickness and weight of this mirror are dating criteria – later mirrors are thinner.
