Contemporary half vellum, worn, spine with green label, partly damaged, spine heavily wormed, cracks in joints. Title with black owner stamp probably from a from a convent library, some foxing. With signature of Sten Lindroth in pencil on first free endpaper.Pritzel 7265, not in Nissen. First edition.Julius or Giulio Pontedera (1688-1757), Italian botanist born in Pisa, professor of botany in Padua. Linnaeus named the genus Pontederia after him. This is Pontedera's major work, mostly dealing with the non-sexuality of plants.Provenance: Lars Bergquist (born 1930), Swedish author and diplomat.
