Wooden Figures of a Ba-Bird and Uraeus Cobra. 1. Wooden statuette of a human-headed falcon or Ba-bird shown perched on a plinth and decorated in polychrome paint. The wig is painted blue; the feathers are red and white; the face is white, and the facial and other details are picked out in black. Rather damaged by insects, mostly to the left side of the figure. Much of painted decoration intact. Originally mounted atop a coffin or other funerary furniture. Late Period to Ptolemaic. H: 11 cm. Richard Gill, London 1992. (M175) 1. A fine wooden figure of the foreparts of an uraeus cobra shown erect with extended shield (partially chipped at either side), with exceptional facial features and a well carved sun disc upon its head. The lower rear edge of the cobra shows a peg hole where it was originally attached atop a shrine in a row together with many others, forming a cornice. New Kingdom .
