Early Christian charm case amulets (5)

A group (5) of early Christian charm case amulets, including a small horizontal example in bone with suspension loop centered above (M686) and four in the shape of vertical rods in dark green schist with drilled suspension loops at one end and an incised cross-hatched pattern overall, in simulation of small thread-bound papyrus scrolls of the type found on knot amulets (M470, M785ab). One of these is very intricate and may be slightly later, L: 59 mm. (M971). 3rd-4th century AD.
