Group of Amarna Ring Fragments Mostly from EES excavations at Tell el-Amarna New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty Blue and green faience (Astarte Gallery, Tetragon & other London dealers) A large group of faience ring fragments including shanks and bezels in various colors and styles. These include five udjat-eye rings (M545, M1482, M1514), two of which are openwork (M923 & M1564), an oval bezel in bright cobalt blue faience decorated with the hieroglyph for beauty (nfr) (M164), five oval bezels with floral decoration in green, purple and blue faience (M246, M306, M454, M656 & M1374), a section of a broken band ring in light blue faience showing a solar Falcon kneeling with Maat feather on knees in openwork decoration (M282), several shank fragments and an intact clay mold for the production of such rings (M455). Such rings were originally distributed as party gifts and costume jewelry – due to their fragility, they are rarely found intact. (17) This lot is part of a large private collection of E
