Votive Faience Cup of Seth-nakht, Father of Ramses III A royal votive cup fragment in blue faience with inscription and rim ticking in black. The inscription reads Osiris, Lord of Ro-Setau [Giza] – The Lord of the Two Lands, User-Khau-Re Mery-Amun Setep-en-Re [prenomen of Sethnakht]. Roughly half of the vessel remaining from rim to base. Excellent condition. Seth-nakht was the first king of the 20th Dynasty and the father of Ramses III. New Kingdom, 20th Dynasty. Authentic examples of such votive cups with royal names are almost always fragmentary. Any objects with Royal names, especially from the New Kingdom are very rare and highly sought after. Provenance: This example was originally sold by Sotheby’s London during the 1980s.
