AZANDE SWORD, 1890-ties

Kongo,1890-ties, blade in iron, 66 cm. Provenance: Axel Swinhufvud, served in his youth as an officer in the Belgian army. He spent five years in Kongo and ended as the commander of a little station called Kabasidu. During the whole period he collected african artefacts and the following lot comes from his estate. His diary for the timeperiod was published in a book called ”I Kongostatens tjänst” Photo not inclueded
